Meet Coach Ashwin

20+ years playing · 1.5 years coaching · RSPA in progress

I've played tennis on and off for over 20 years and have been coaching for the past year and a half, currently working toward my RSPA certification.
My approach is built on one idea: no two students learn the same way. Every lesson is tailored to your level and goals — form, footwork, and match tactics — through practical drills, not mindless repetition. Between sessions, I'll send you curated video clips so you can study technique and shot selection on your own time.
The goal isn't just to drill. It's to help you truly understand the game, so you can adjust mid-match and keep improving long after the lesson ends. Wherever your game is, I'll meet you there and take you further.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Where do the lessons take place?
Lessons are held on public courts across Cary and Apex, including Apex Community Park, Godbold Park, and Carmichael Tennis Courts. Once you book, I'll confirm the most convenient court for you.
Do I need my own racquet or gear?
Just bring sun protection, court shoes, water, and comfortable clothes. No racquet yet? A loaner is available for your first session.
How do I know my skill level?
Beginner — you're learning the fundamentals or getting back into the game. Intermediate — you rally comfortably and play casual matches (roughly NTRP 3.0–4.0). Advanced — you're competing, or playing USTA league or high school varsity. Not sure? Pick the closest and we'll fine-tune it on court.
What happens after I book?
You'll pick a time that works and answer a few quick questions about your goals and level. Those details come straight to me, so your very first session is built around you. You'll also get an email confirmation with your date, time, and a link to reschedule if anything comes up.
What's your cancellation policy?
Life happens. Just give at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel and there's no charge. You can reschedule right from your confirmation email.
What if it rains?
If the weather won't cooperate, we'll reschedule to the next available slot at no cost — no one plays their best on a wet court.
Do you coach juniors?
Yes — I work with junior and high school players ages 14–17 at the same rates as adults, whether they're brand new to the game or training for varsity or USTA play.
